Chicory Café Au Lait

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups Barber’s skim milk
  • 1 cup Barber’s whipping cream
  • 6 cups strong, hot chicory coffee

COOKING DIRECTIONS

  1. Heat Barber’s skim milk and cream in a saucepan over med-low heat.
  2. Remove pan from heat and pour hot chicory coffee into hot milk mixture. Stir.
  3. Pour “café au lait” into coffee mugs or cups and enjoy!
  4. Optional:
  5. Add sugar and/or chocolate syrup for a “mocha” taste.
  6. (Using an equal amount of hot milk & cream and coffee brings out the best flavors of the coffee. This is a traditional French way of preparing coffee that is very easy and delicious.)

PREP NOTES:

  • If you want to make lattes and other more exotic coffee drinks the proper way you will need to purchase an espresso machine, which you can now find at most home discount shopping centers. If you do not want to do this you can just make really strong coffee in a regular drip machine and use this coffee as a substitute for the real espresso. You can foam milk in a blender or use a small hand held gadget blender for this purpose.
