1. How much milk does Barber's provide in a year?

About 40 million gallons, and that takes a lot of cows. In a year, a single dairy cow can produce nearly 1670 gallons of milk, which means Barber's is working with more than 24,000 cows!

2. Does the type of jug or package affect the taste of milk?
Both sunlight and artificial light are the natural enemies of milk, robbing it of nutrients and flavor. Barber's specially-designed Opaque Jug protects your milk from sunlight that robs milk of nutrients and flavor. Half of consumers could actually detect the difference and taste the flavor change if milk was exposed to light for less than two hours because light causes chemical reactions that modify proteins, a process called photo-degradation or light-oxidization.

3. What is the best temperature for storing milk?
To ensure the best-tasting milk, be certain to monitor the temperature of your refrigerator. Some milk research suggests a standard storing temperature of 40 degrees, but we recommend that you keep it even cooler. For the absolute best taste, try to maintain 35-37 degrees whenever possible. When stored at the proper temperature, we are confident that Barber's milk will remain fresher longer than other milks.

4. Does it mater if milk is rBST(hormone)-free?
In 1993, and again in 2000, the FDA approved the use of artificial growth hormones after studies showed them safe for consumers, cows, and the environment. While safe, these hormones allow most cows to produce more milk which benefits the economy and environment by requiring fewer dairy cattle to meet our milk requirements.

In January 1999 and April 2000, in response to consumer requests, FDA re-evaluated its data on rBST and reconfirmed its original findings that rBST is completely safe for use in cows, with no risk to human health. (According to http://www.idfa.org/reg/biotech/rbst_idfa_position.cfm)
